Kathryn A. DiGiovanni

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Kathryn DiGiovanni in her home at the age of 104 1/2.  Her mind was sharp until the very end.  She looked decades younger than her age, she read two books a week and watched "Jeopardy" faithfully.

She was born to Frederick Buccino and Mary Gerard in Newark, NJ on August 22, 1919.  

She met the love of her life, Vincent DiGiovanni, at 16.  Theirs was a marriage of great love and respect.  She had 7 children and raised their family in West Caldwell before moving to Tinton Falls in 1982.

A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Aloysius Rosary Society and at St. Anthony's in Red Bank, she was also a member of the Rosary Society, the St. Anne's Society, and Bible Study Group.  Additionally, she was a proud member of Sigma Rho Gamma Sorority for over 50 years as well as a member of the PTA for Mount St. Dominic Academy.

Everyone loved Mom.  She welcomed everyone into her home. She was an extensive traveler.

She leaves her surviving children:  Judith Cifaretto of Fair Haven, Dr. Vincent DiGiovanni of Ocala, FL, Robert DiGiovanni of Verona and Janine DiGiovanni of Paris.  She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent, and children, Richard, Joseph and Toni Lynn.

She also leaves her grandchildren: Janine Cifaretto, Diane Thompson, Kathryn Mazzella, Dr. Vincent Mathew DiGiovanni, Daniel DiGiovanni, Elizabeth DiGiovanni and Luca Girodon. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren: Carter, Layne and Reese Spyrka, Julia and Daniel Thompson, Betsy Rae and Reed DiGiovanni and Vincent and Gabriel DiGiovanni.

The family wishes to thank Katia and Tamuna, who provided loving care for our mother.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 11, at 9:30am at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Red Bank, NJ.
