Obituary of Alice D. Barnes
Alice D. Barnes, 80, passed away at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank on March 3, 2010. Born in New Orleans, she resided in Eatontown before moving to Oceanport in 1965. Alice was a graduate of Dillard University in New Orleans and worked as a teacher for the Long Branch School District. She also was a member of Women of the Chapel for Ft. Monmouth.
She is predeceased by her parents: George and Alice (Hebrard) Desbordes; her brothers: Clarence and Calvert Desbordes, her sisters, Bernadine Desbordes and Geraldine Echols. Surviving is her husband of 53 years, Claude L. Barnes; her son, Brett Barnes and his wife Jeannette of Neptune; her daughter, Tracie Greany and her husband, Peter of Alaska; her brothers: Lionel Desbordes , Fabian Desbordes and his wife, Phyllis all of Baltimore, MD; her sisters: Lorraine Blazio of Landover, MD and Anita Clax of Tinton Falls; four grandchildren: Julianna Barnes, Megan, Monica and Madison Greany and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will take place at Braun Funeral Home 106 Broad Street Eatontown, NJ 07724 on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8PM. A service will take place at the Post Chapel at Ft. Monmouth on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 10:00AM (Those wishing to attend and do not have military identification must assemble at the funeral home at 9:00 AM). Entombment to follow at Woodbine Mausoleum in Oceanport.
