OBITUARY OF Leo Schnapf
Leo Schnapf, 79, was called to eternal rest on Friday, March 12, 2010 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Philadelphia, PA.
Leo was born in Manhattan, lived in the Bronx until 1963 then moved to Aberdeen where he has resided for over 47 years. Leo served our country proudly during the Korean War and held the honor of being a Navy Seabees. He was employed as a recording engineer at Associated Recording Studios prior to taking the position as Director of Recording and Operational facilities for RCA Records in NYC where he worked for nearly 18 years and from where, he retired. Leo will always fondly and admirably be remembered by his friends and family as Mr. Fix It. He enjoyed telling stories which he did very well, as well as “tinkering”; he just had to know how things were put together! He was a Hamm Radio enthusiast.
Leo is predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Grace and his parents, Meyer and Gussie Schnapf. Surviving to cherish his memory is his companion, Kerry Mahoney, Denver, CO; his sons: Lawrence Schnapf and wife Rebecca of NY; Rob Schnapf and wife Margaret of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Nancy Poylo and her husband Russell of NYC; Sister Marjorie Koenig of the Bronx and grandchildren: Sonny and Grace Schnapf.
Friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Bedle Funeral Home, 212 Main Street, Matawan, NJ 07747. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 17th at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s cemetery, Keyport.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Leo’s name to the Leukemia Society, 14 Commerce Drive, Suite 301, Cranford, NJ 07016 or The American Heart Association
One Union Street, Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691-4183.
