Nancy Frances Gullotta, 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Middletown on Wednesday evening July 28, with loved ones by her side.
Nancy was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 20, 1920. She moved to Middletown, NJ in 1976 with her beloved late husband of 52 years, Alfred R. Gullotta. Nancy was a devout Catholic who always had a rosary in-hand. She joyfully led others to pray along with her, and began a monthly prayer group for her family in the last year of her life. As one of seven children, Nancy was raised in a loving home full of laughter, music, fashion, and fun. She is survived by her sister Lee Cutrone of Allentown, PA and sister Helen Gravino and Brother-in-law Blaise Gravino of Douglastown, NY. She was predeceased by her beloved parents Maria-Vincenza and Giacomo DeVincenzo and siblings Mary Languili, Michael DeVincent, Annette Sollecito, and Joseph DeVincent. Nancy is also predeceased by her first husband Nicholas Romano, who lost his life in WWII. As a young woman, Nancy developed her love of fashion and style while modeling for various dress firms in NYC. As a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, Nancy’s heart and coffeepot were always bottomless. Her legacy lives on within her two daughters Cynthia Portera and Dr. Adriane Gullotta-Gsell, son-in-law Bruce Gsell, three grandchildren, Michael Portera, Jennifer Gsell, and Kristin Gsell, and many loving nieces and nephews. Nancy was a patient and gifted teacher. Her children and grandchildren all share warm memories of the lessons she taught through alphabet rhymes, number games, and endless hours of guidance. All will miss Nancy’s special songs, pizzas, and chicken soup for the soul! She charmed and warmed the hearts of everyone whose path she crossed, and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held on Sunday August 1, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9PM at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Mary’s RC Church in New Monmouth at 10:30 AM on Monday August 2, 2010 with burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown.
