Conchita M. Mendoza

Conchita M. Mendoza, 295 Cooper Road, Red Bank N.J., passed away peacefully on Thursday August 26, 2021. She was born in 1918, in Havana Cuba.  Conchita is survived by her five children, Margarita, Antonio, Lydia, Concha, and Miguel, 12 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. A mass will be offered in her memory at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, Red Bank at 10 am on Wednesday, Sept 1st.  Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown following the Mass.

Conchita lived a remarkably long and happy life. She was a lady of faith, optimism, and generosity. 

Well into her late Eighties she volunteered for many local organizations, including Meals on Wheels, where she often delivers meals to younger clients. She also volunteered at the Women’s Exchange, and as a Spanish translator at the Parker Family Heath Center in Red Bank. She was an avid bridge player and played golf well into her late Eighties.

Her large family was at the center of her life. She developed strong relationships with many of her grandchildren, who loved her, and often visited her from their homes in California, Alaska and Spain. For the past fifty years her house on Cooper Road has been the Thanksgiving destination of her children, grandchildren, and lately, great grandchildren. She was a woman of strong opinions. Foremost among them was a belief in education. She was a strong advocate for the  education of her children, which at times included badgering the college admission officers. She attended all the college graduations of her children and grandchildren.
