Daniel V. Kearney

Daniel Vincent Kearney, 86, of Oceanport, passed away on January 7, 2022 at home surrounded by his children. He was born in Jersey City, NJ to the late John V. Kearney and Mary Theresa (O’Neill) Kearney. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Rutherford with his high school sweetheart Susan (McKiernan) where he was the co-captain of their undefeated championship football team. After serving in the U.S. Army, Dan and Susan were married for 63 wonderful years. Together they enjoyed a love of travel, reading, and especially time with family. Daniel was an avid golfer and Giants fan, he enjoyed annual get-togethers with his army buddies at Scheutzen Park in Jersey City. He retired from the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers in 1997 after 45 years of loyal service he was also a former Vice President with the NJ Construction and Building Trades Council.

He is predeceased by his wife Susan, his brother, John, his sister and brother-in-law Catherine “Louise” and her husband Lawrence Letizia as well as his brother-in-law Richard McKiernan. He is survived by Richard’s wife Patricia McKiernan as well as his sister, Sister Mary John Kearney, O.P. Also, surviving are his five loving children, Daniel and his wife Deborah, Kathleen, Kevin - (Lori & Neil Singer), Jacqueline and Sean and his cherished grandchildren, John, Liam, Grace, Max, Jake, Katelyn, Ryan and Brooke.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 800 Ocean Avenue, Long Branch, NJ 07740 on Saturday January 15, 2022 at 10:00 A.M.
