Daniel J. Mahoney, Jr., 85, of Tinton Falls, passed away peacefully at on June 4th. He was born in Plainfield, NJ in 1933 to the late Daniel J., Sr. and Loretta (Schultz) Mahoney. Daniel lived in Manville, NJ before moving to Sea Oaks in Little Egg Harbor, NJ after his retirement, and then settling into Tinton Falls, NJ.
He was employed by Mack Trucks, Inc. as a computer programmer for over 30 years.
An avid Cardinals fan since youth, he enjoyed watching them play on television. Daniel loved playing golf, bocce ball and horseshoes, the latter two in which he played on teams while living in Sea Oaks. One of his favorite meals was a pepper and onion pizza, and a Yuengling beer, followed by ice cream. He was a former member of St. Theresa Church in Little Egg Harbor where he participated in the yearly carnival.
He is predeceased by his wife, Vera (Ewankov) Mahoney, who passed away in 2010, and their son Daniel J. Mahoney III who passed away in 1986.
Surviving are his two daughters: Eileen of Tinton Falls, and Diane of Hillsborough, NJ; his three grandchildren: Kerry, Trevor, and Skyler; his great-grandson Logan; his two son-in-laws, Tom and Mike; grandson-in-law, Tim; and his sister, Johanna of Hollywood, FL.
