Edward T. Darby, 76, of Fair Haven, passed away on July 11, 2021 at Riverview Medical Center. He was born in Jersey City, NJ to the late James and Madeline Darby. Edward received his Bachelor’s degree from St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ.
Edward lived in Jersey City and spent his summers in Monmouth County where he eventually made his final residence in Fair Haven. He retired from his career with the Hudson County Office of Employment and Training after 30+ years and continued his active life working as a Sales Associate of Home Depot. Edward was a longtime volunteer with the Board of Elections and a faithful servant of God as an Usher for both the Church of Nativity and Our Lady of Victories. He was an active member of The Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick and also served as President during a period of his membership. As a devoted father and grandfather, he revelled in participating in all his family’s activities. As an avid sports fan, particularly a lifetime Mets/Jets fan, he enjoyed treating his family and friends to live games over the years. Edward was treasured by all who knew him and will greatly be missed.
He is predeceased by his wife Teresita Darby in 2011 and his son, Edward “Ted” Darby in 2018. Edward is survived by his loving children Marianne T. Pane and her husband Emilio, John P. Darby and his wife Paula, his 10 adoring grandchildren, Taylor, Tyler, Tahj, Anthony, Alexa, Ginevra, Agnello, Matteo, Eliana and Luca. Also surviving are his beloved brother, James Darby, his recent companion Luzvilla Baje, his in-laws: Manuel Reyes and his wife Herminia, Divina Guitirrez, Emelita Mercado, Milagros Danganan and her husband Oscar along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701 on Tuesday July 20, 2021 from 4 - 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Nativity on Wednesday July 21, 2021 at 10 am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
