Elizabeth Merrill Nolen

Nolen, Elizabeth Merrill “Betty”, 93 of Shrewsbury N.J and formerly of Middletown and Chatham Twp. N.J. passed away peacefully on July 31, 2019. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time at the family cottage in Massachusetts.

Elizabeth was a founding member of the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Twp., former member of the Chatham Twp. Women’s club, and a former volunteer with local Presbyterian Homes, Inc. retirement communities.

She is predeceased by her husband John William Nolen, Jr.; their son, Jeffrey Merrill Nolen; her parents, Emmons and Helen Merrill, and stepmothers, Dee Dee and Maude.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sheila G. Nolen; two grandchildren, John William Nolen III and his wife Dr. Laura Hanratty, and Jeremy Merrill Nolen and his wife Alycia; and four great grandchildren ViviAnne, Kirsi, Merrill and Alton.

There will be a prayer service and interment on Thursday August 8, 2019, 1:30 PM at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown, N.J. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to The Presbyterian Homes, Inc. at www.presbyhomesinc.org/presby/ways-to-give/
