Frances A. Brown

Frances Ann (Sole) Brown, 92, of Red Bank, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022.

Frances was born in Red Bank, NJ to parents Frank and Anna Cangialosi Sole. She was the fourth of five children, She had a sister Rosemary and a sister Ann, two brothers, Anthony and Joseph, all who have predeceased her.

Frances was a parishioner of St. James Catholic Church in Red Bank and a graduate of Red Bank Catholic, Class of 1948. After graduation, she worked at Prudential Life Insurance Company in Newark for two years, and then at Fort Monmouth. This is where she met and married Lt. Colonel LeRoy D. Brown. She was an Army wife for 25 years, and did much traveling, living in New Jersey, Massachusetts, Virginia and Texas. She also traveled in Europe, lived in Germany for three years, and Thailand for two. She was a member of the Officer’s Wives Club. As of 1970, she was a parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Congregation at the Chapel at Fort Monmouth until it closed. There, she served as Eucharistic Minister. She also did volunteer work at the church and at other organizations. She and Roy were also members of Voluntas Dei Institute.

Frances and LeRoy had four daughters, Valerie Weader Wachter (predeceased), Cynthia Edelen, Anita Aitken and Theresa Janovsky. Frances also has 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Church of the Nativity, 180 Ridge Road, Fair Haven on Saturday, September 24th, from 10:00am to 11:30am and will be immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30am. Please wear colorful attire to celebrate her life. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport.
