Hazel I. Rudolph (nee Dottin), 92, of Fair Haven, NJ made her journey on May 10, 2019. Born in Gall Hill, St. John, Barbados on August 29, 1926. Hazel married and moved to England, settled there and set out to raise her family. She worked from home as a manufacturing contractor. Later, she returned to her native Barbados as owner and operator of a small manufacturing business - Travel Bags Limited. After several successful years in Barbados, she eventually moved to the USA. Dottin Enterprises, an alterations shop, was created once Hazel settled in Red Bank, New Jersey in 1982.
Hazel enjoyed making jewelry and knitting in her spare time. An avid golf watcher on television and mostly spending time with her family and friends. Her mantra was always put God first and the rest will follow. Hazel was and always will be a beacon of light in this world and beyond.
She is predeceased by her husband George Rudolph, her sister Sylvia Mayers, and her brother Darnley Taylor. Surviving are her loving children Elias D. Amin and his wife Sandra, Mergina J.Gilkes and her husband Francis, Patricia J. Browne and her husband Anthony, and Diana N. Frederick, her sister Cynthia Clarke, her cherished grandchildren David Johnson, Tanece Amin, Dr. Tamara Gilkes-Borr and her husband Eric, Ashley Gilkes, Officer Brandon Gilkes, and Joshua Amin, cherished friends Dennis Watts and Maureen Oughterson. Also surviving are many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial gathering will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701 on Wednesday May 15, 2019 from 4 – 8 p.m. with a service to begin at 7:00 p.m.
