Dear Garrett Family,
My mother, Helen, and I just found out the sad news about Uncle Jim's passing. Please know we would have been at the services, had we known.
I have a letter he wrote me after my father's death. I will copy and forward it to you. It means the world to me and shed some light on my father's behavior. My Dad loved his telephone conversations with Jimmy and always spoke very highly of him.
My mother, brother, and I also, remember fondly, when Aunt Isabelle would join us for dinner on Beech Street, in Rutherford.
We haven't remained in touch as much as I would have liked, but know the Garrett Family is always in our hearts and thoughts.
With love, Sally and Helen Boyd

My deepest sympathy to Mrs. Garrett and the Garrett Family. Coach Jim Garrett was the greatest and meant the world to me! He was a great Coach, mentor, teacher, and friend. He had a great energetic and positive influence on me throughout my career and life over the past 40 years. He helped me tremendously and was always just a phone call away even during those training camp days when he was in the dorm. He was so proud of all of you and always gave me a scouting report on what everyone was doing in the Garrett Family At the end of our conversations he would always tell me he loved me and to be good... and I told him that I loved him. God Bless Coach Garrett and all of you!!

Dear Jane and the entire Garrett family,
I feel I just lost my second father, as well as my best friend and greatest coach. Coach was in my life for 62 years! I wish he had written the book we talked about regarding his life. To reach so many more lives. I will so miss our visits. So many 1955 to 1956 Pawling high school sports team members still live with his guidance. God bless the entire Garrett family.

My sincere condolences to Jane and your wonderful family. Through Bob Pittello, I was fortunate to have spent some time visiting with Coach Jim and Jane, getting to know you both a little more, and sharing some stories over dinner at Sally T's. Thank you for that privilege. As I would drive home to New York afterwards, I would feel inspired to be the best person I could be toward others, and to chase after my dreams. Their example had that kind of effect. God bless your family. I can just picture Coach Jim and Coach Bob catching up, smiling and laughing and telling great stories, and maybe planning their next recruiting trip...

I was very sadden to hear of the passing of a great community leader such as Mr. Jim Garrett. The lives this man has touched could fill a sandbox, for to come in contact with him was to play on life's greatest playground of humanity, respect and genuine love of wanting to help anyone and everyone to achieve their dream.
You will be GREATLY missed by the Barnes Family.
My most deepest sympathies to the family.
