Jean M Higgins

Jean M. Higgins, 79, of Oceanport passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 10. She was born in Queens, NY to the late Raymond and Mary (Duffy) Schneider. Jean grew up in Queens Village, and moved to Edison for a short time before finally settling in Oceanport. She was an Administrative Assistant for Newmont Mining in New York City.

Jean was a devoted Catholic who was a parishioner at St. Michael’s Church in Long Branch, and was a volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul. She was a kind person to all who knew her.

Jean is predeceased by her sister Denise Hughes. Surviving is the love of her life and husband, Gerard “Jerry” Higgins. Also surviving are her brothers-in-law Raymond Higgins, and Frank Hughes, and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank on Wednesday, August 15 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Michael’s Church, Long Branch on Thursday, August 16 at 10:30am, followed by entombment at Woodbine Cemetery and Mausoleum, Oceanport.
