Joan Ann Barker

Joan Ann Barker, 85, of Keyport, passed away on February 13, 2021 at Bayshore Hospital in Holmdel. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Charles Edward and Edna Marie (Weber) Cadley. Joan worked for many years as an Executive Secretary for Willets International and the Holmdel Board of Education. After retiring from secretarial work, she continued in the retail field, working at Macy’s in Eatontown. Joan loved day trips, gardening and flowers. Last March she had a wonderful time at the Philadelphia Flower Show with her daughters. Over the last 40 years, Joan was a devoted caretaker to her son, Robert. They spent many happy hours enjoying a scenic drive, sharing a meal, or just talking or listening to music together. 

She is predeceased by her sister, Arlene Hodder. Surviving are her dear sister Judith, her loving children, Robert Barker, Susan and her husband Douglas Smith, and Nancy Barker. Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren, Patrick, Connor, Matthew, Keith and Sarah, with whom she enjoyed celebrating holidays, birthdays, and important events in their lives. She never missed a birthday card or Christmas gift, and it was her delight to see them opened and enjoyed. She even brought gifts for the family pets at every occasion as well. Also surviving are her loving niece Alison and nephews Richard, John, Vincent, and Thomas. She is also survived by her longtime close friends, Barbara and William Haughland.
