Joseph Anthony Scopellite of Middletown

It is with great sadness to announce that Joseph Anthony Scopellite passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at the age of 87 years.
Joe was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 1, 1931 and has resided in Middletown, New Jersey for the past 17 years. He was a devoted family man and will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Barbara and his children, Marie Hughes, Anthony (Anna), Joseph (Irene), Steven (Kellie), Joanne (Andy) Ferris, Christopher (Kim) and George (Rachel). Joe will also be fondly remembered by his eighteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and by his siblings Angela, Theresa, Rocco, Grace and Michael. Joe was predeceased by his siblings Dominic, Catherine, Mary, Vincent, Frankie, Lucy and Nicholas. He was dedicated to his family, faith and country. As a faithful Catholic, he has served as a lifetime member of the Franciscan Third Order and was a Korean War veteran.
Visitation will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Drive, Red Bank on Monday, October 8th from 2pm-4pm and from 7pm-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 94 Broad Street, Red Bank at 10am on Tuesday, October 9th. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown.
