Tribute

Maureen Donovan Gregston, 56, of Middletown, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022.
Born in Red Bank to John and Elsie Donovan, Maureen was the youngest of nine children. She was raised in Middletown and was a graduate of Middletown High School South. A life-long parishioner of St. James RC Church in Red Bank, Maureen received all of her sacraments there and married her beloved husband, Randal, at St. James on November 3, 1989. Maureen was currently working for Dialight in Wall as an Accounts Receivable Specialist.
Maureen was a loving soul – selfless and always doing for others before doing for herself. Family always came first, as she doted on her son Matthew and was abundantly proud of the young man he has become. Her door was always open to family and friends, and she always reached out to others, making sure they were okay. Her nieces and nephews had a special place in her heart and her love for family was known and felt by all. Maureen had a great sense of humor; her laughter was contagious and her smile would light up the room. She relished cooking or baking something special for those she loved and enjoyed sharing the recipes with anyone who asked. Maureen loved animals, especially cats, and took great enjoyment watching and listening to the rain, as well as taking leisurely car rides along the shore. Ever the Jersey-Girl, Maureen loved her Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi, and frequently rooted for the Mets and the Giants.
Maureen’s passing has left a gaping hole in her family and in the hearts of all who adore her – that hole can only be filled by the memories of her full and loving life. Cherish her memory by selflessly loving others, raise a glass of Moscato in her name, stop by Nicholas Creamery for some cherished ice cream, and don’t forget to keep some gum in your pocket.
Maureen is pre-deceased by her parents, John and Elsie Donovan, her sisters, Theresa Daneman and Virginia Gottlieb and her brother, Larry Donovan.
Maureen is survived by her devoted husband of 32 years, Randal Gregston and her cherished son, Matthew. She is also survived by her beloved siblings, Kevin Donovan of Mount Vernon, WA, Charles Donovan and wife Kathy of Hazlet, NJ, Dorothy Donovan and husband Michael Riordan of Hazlet, NJ, Marguerite Donovan of Middletown, NJ, and Cecelia Donovan of Middletown, NJ, as well as her brother-in-law, Michael Daneman, Sr.
Maureen also leaves behind her cherished nieces and nephews, Shannon and Eric Fisher, Melissa and Sean Luddy, Megan and Eric VanSchaack, Michael Daneman, Jr., Jessica Gottlieb, Stephanie and Eric Bodo, Emily Gottlieb, John Donovan, Kristen and Rich Rauch, PA, Betsy and Jonathan Costello, Jim and Amanda Carr, Ed Donovan, Katie Donovan, Mason and Leah VanSchaack, Olivia Rauch, John and Cameron Costello, Logan, Gavin and Owen Carr and Sophia and Jade Lipnick, as well as her caring aunts and uncles, Bill Donovan and wife Bea, Dorothy Donovan, SSJ and Michael Donovan and wife Joyce, and many caring cousins.
