Philip John Deignan, 87, of Oceanport, passed away on November 23, 2018. He was born in Elizabeth to the late Philip and Cecelia (Scott) Deignan. Philip proudly served our country in the United States Navy. He had a love for sports, especially watching Notre Dame Football and the NJ Devils Hockey. Philip was an excellent cook who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joan Deignan in 2011, and his brothers Frank and James. Surviving are his loving daughters Kathleen and her husband David Kennedy, Susan and her husband Steven Ansley, Kristina and her husband Mark Hardy, Mimi Sewell, and Elizabeth and her husband Evan Schottlander. Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren Rachel, David, Grace, Mary, Jessica, Kevin, Chelsea, Tyler, Emma, Joey and Jack and his great grandson Dominic.
Visitation will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701 on Friday November 30, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday December 1, 2018 at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent in Philip’s memory to Wounded Warriors, P.O Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517.
