I just learned of Phil's untimely passing. We never met face to face, but our conversations and jokes we shared on Facebook let me know he would've been a good friend in real life. I am shocked and saddened. Godspeed Phil!

As said by so many, Phil's friendship and presence in the lives of those who knew him was bigger than he could ever have imagined. We knew each other and hung out as kids, at Milt's coffee shop in Maplewood Village . Phil was that cute 'bad boy', that seemed to get away with everything with his smile and laughter! Renewing our friendship on Facebook was such a special gift. He adored his family' , cared deeply about his online friends, and loved his pups, the beach & his bikes in that order! Start the party without us Phil....we will be there before you know it. You will be missed my friend.

No words or condolences can express your loss Phil. We e-mailed through Sandy. You
extended an invitation to me to visit. We all ran like bandits through Maplewood and South Orange in '66 '67. Your big blue house on Ridgewood Rd. So we lost a few yeard,
but caught up again. You are one of The Columbia Regulars. I graduated before you because of the rain, and the split class of 700. I miss you already. It will take some time
to wrap my head around this event.

Adios, Phil. You were a special guy. No one threw themselves at life like you. Not sure if the saying the one with the the most toys wins applies but you certainly gave it your best. The best tribute is to have so many love you.
