Priscilla Lane Anderson

February 3, 1940 ~ June 22, 2021 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Tribute

Priscilla Anderson, 81, of Atlantic Highlands, passed away on June 22, 2021. She was born in North Carolina to the late W.E. Buff and Margaret (Camp) Buff.

Priscilla was a happy homemaker who raised nine children in Rumson with Jim, the love of her life and husband of 61 years. All of their children graduated from Rumson-Fair Haven High School, where Priscilla was active in the Parent-Teachers Association for many years. She coached numerous recreational sports teams, including soccer and basketball.

Priscilla was a devoted wife and mother, a woman of faith, and a staunch conservative. She worked tirelessly to instill these values in her children, along with her fondness of reading. She had a deep respect for tradition, as evidenced by her love of being surrounded by family during the holidays. Priscilla’s maternal instinct was manifest in her large and diverse collection of elephants and in the jewelry she wore. In the early 1990s, Priscilla and Jim renewed their vows in Holy Cross Church, where they and their children were active members for many years.

Priscilla, raised in North Carolina, retained her Southern charm and warm demeanor throughout her life. Her wide smile and hearty laugh were recognized throughout the Rumson-Fair Haven district. One could not drive by Priscilla without being greeted by a friendly wave or walk by her in the grocery store without her saying, “Hello!” Over the years, Priscilla welcomed with open arms the many friends of their children who loved to play and stay at their home on 10 Sailors Way. There, the Anderson tribe and their friends tended to congregate on and around the “Little Climbing Tree” outside of Priscilla and Jim’s bedroom window.

An artist at heart, Priscilla was always looking for creative ways to express herself. Beginning in the late 1980s, she actively pursued an education in painting which took her on an exploration of various mediums, colors, and styles under the tutelage of Sven Widen and Lizzi Schippert. With encouragement from her artist friends and family, she showed her work at the Rumson Library, and it was well received. Priscilla was a member of the Rumson Library Friday Knitting Club, where she took great pleasure in the company of her lady friends.

Priscilla will be greatly missed here on earth but would want her family and friends to take comfort in knowing she is at home in heaven holding hands with Jim for eternity.

She and Jim were devoted to each other to the very end, passing within days of each other. Priscilla leaves behind her loving children Jim, Kevin, Buff, Cathy, Rob, Karen, Sue, Dave and Jennifer, and many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
