Salvatore Ippolito, 75 previously of Holmdel, New Jersey, passed away suddenly in Naples, Florida on Saturday August 28, 2021. He was born on February 18, 1946 in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, New York. Salvatore graduated from Boys High School in Brooklyn, New York. Salvatore worked as a Checker at APM Terminals in Port Elizabeth, New Jersey and was a member of the International Longshoremen’s Association Local 1 for 44 years.
“Reading brings knowledge and knowledge is power” was what Salvatore lived by. Whether you were a worker in his favorite restaurants, a family member, or just a kind face sitting next to him having a drink, he welcomed your conversation. Salvatore loved life and his family. He loved to play cards, golf, loved his country and was an avid reader. Salvatore looked forward to his happy hours with a good glass of red wine or an IPA. Salvatore loved to travel and see the world.
Salvatore is predeceased by parents Filadelpho and Mary (Taranto) Ippolito. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Mary Ann, children Lisa (Stephen) Calandrino and Melissa Heslip; his brother Frederick and sister-in-law Alice Ippolito. His cherished grandchildren who loved and adored him, Stephen Jr., Nicole and Nicholas and a niece, nephew and many loving cousins.
Visitation will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701 on Friday, September 10 from 3 – 8 p.m. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Saturday September 11, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. for a prayer before the entombment at Holmdel Mausoleum.
