Shirley A. Badal

Tinton Falls - Shirley A. Badal passed away peacefully at age 98.  She was born on August 26, 1921 in Carteret, NJ to her loving parents Frederick and Harriet Ruckriegel.  She is predeceased by her beloved husband Michael, to whom she was married to for 65 years.

Shirley is survived by her sister Harriet (Claire) Shaner and brother Frederick Ruckriegel.   She is survived by her sons Jonathan, Clinton and wife Lauren, and grandchildren Michael and Elyse.  Shirley grew up in Carteret; married Mike in 1946, after he returned from WWII; and moved to Scotch Plains NJ.  Shirley worked for Standard Oil as a Buyer during WWII and then as an Executive Secretary at Merck.  

In 1965, Shirley and Mike moved to Tinton Falls where she remained active in the Woman’s Club of Tinton Falls, Monmouth County Girl Scouts, and Christ Episcopal Church.  Besides her family, her life long favorite activity was the altar guild at Christ Church. In 1994, Shirley and Mike received Associate Degrees from Brookdale Community College.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers at Arnold Walter Nursing Home for their compassion and support of Shirley.

Visitation will be at the John E Day funeral Home at 85 Riverside Ave, Red Bank, NJ on Tuesday, September 17th from 5pm to 8pm.  A mass will be held on Wednesday, September 18th at 10am at Christ Church (Episcopal), Shrewsbury, NJ.  http://christchurchshrewsbury.org/

In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made to the Christ Episcopal Church altar guild.
