Thomas G. McBrady, 84, of Rumson, formerly of Ridgewood and Chicago, IL, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022.
Born and raised in Chicago, IL to Kenneth and Kathleen McBrady, Tom was one of three children. A graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology, he earned his Master’s Degree in Engineering. Tom married his high school sweetheart, Mary Therese (nee: Honan) in 1959. He began his career at Best Foods in Chicago, then transferred to New Jersey and worked in Englewood Cliffs before embarking on the next chapter of his career with Nabisco Brands in East Hanover, where he worked for 20 years and became Executive Vice President of Operations Worldwide, retiring in 2000. He and Mary Therese settled and raised their family in Ridgewood. After his retirement, they settled in Rumson, also spending time at their home in Naples, Florida. Tom and Mary Therese also cherished and maintained their many friendships in Chicago.
A devout Catholic, Tom enjoyed playing golf, had a great sense of humor and was just an all-around great Dad and good man. Tom also enjoyed doing the jitterbug with his lovely bride at many special occasions. A former member of the Ridgewood Country Club, Tom was a current member of the Navesink Country Club and also enjoyed spending time with family at the Chapel Beach Club in Sea Bright.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary Therese, who has been by his side since they were 16 years old. Loving father of Thomas McBrady and wife Diane, Terrence McBrady and wife Alison and Eileen Elsas and husband Scott. Cherished grandfather of Kiely, Rory, Kelly, Gregory and Reed. Caring brother of the late Ken McBrady and Bill McBrady.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 19th at 10:00am at Holy Cross RC Church, 30 Ward Avenue in Rumson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s memory to his favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Services are under the direction of John E. Day Funeral Home in Red Bank.
