William H. Abbott, 96, passed away at home on April 4, 2020. He was born in Hudson, Massachusetts and he was a resident of Middletown, NJ for 68 years.
William worked in men’s retail for most of his adult life and was the director of alterations for Macy’s in their east coast stores. He proudly served his country in World War II in the Pacific theater as a medical corpsman and then as an operating room technician in the first MASH units in the Korean War.
William loved life and his family. His philosophy was to help others in need which he did quietly and without fanfare. He found hope for the future in the lives of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Abbott; his mother, Irene Bailey; his brothers: Kenneth and Chester; and his sisters, Madelon and Ruth.
Surviving are his three daughters and their spouses: Linda Santasuosso of MA; Debbie and Gene Wagner of Toms River and Joanne and Curtis Olszewski of Brick; his eight grandchildren: Tracey, Kelly, Matthew, Justin, Skyler, Scott, Christine and Robert as well as five great grandchildren: Destiny, Jayson, Shyanne, Aiden and Kaliyah.
