William J. Schultz Jr.

William J. “Bill” Schultz, Jr., 83, of Middletown, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021. Beloved husband of 60 years to his high school sweetheart, Margaret “Peggy” Schultz (nee: Dunn). Devoted father of Pam Brightbill and husband Mark, Linda Messa and Marybeth Schultz. Loving grandfather of Conley Brightbill and wife Kate, Alex Glass, Elizabeth Brightbill Matthews and husband Jessie, Maggie Glass Post and husband Josh, Charles Messa, Luke Glass, William Messa, Hannah Messa and Emma Kilbride and he was a cherished great-grandfather. Caring brother of the late Marilyn Loftus and Carol Laux. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Jersey City to William and Mabel Schultz, Bill attended Jersey City Schools and was a Seton Hall graduate. In high school, he met the love of his life, Peggy, and they later married and raised 3 daughters together. A devoted family man, Bill was dedicated to his wife and children, then later in life to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, fondly enjoying Sunday dinners together as a family. As the founder of Schultz Metal Service, Bill had a long, successful career in the steel industry, continued working after his retirement as a consultant. A long-time parishioner of Saint Anthony’s Church in Red Bank, he served as an usher for many years and was a member of Saint Anthony’s Society. Family and friends may visit Monday, 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at 9:30am at the Saint Anthony Church in Red Bank, followed by burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown.
