Richard V. Ott 89, died on April 27, 2017 at his home in Little Silver. He was born in Irvington, lived in Springfield and Chatham before moving to Little Silver in 1996.

Richard was a graduate of Seton Hall Prep and Seton Hall University. He was a certified Property and Casualty Underwriter since 1960. He was owner and President of the Remington-Ott Insurance Agency; he was the past President of the Irvington Lions Club, the Essex County Independent Insurance Agents and the Serra Club of Union County West.

Richard is predeceased by his parents Frank Ott and Jeanette (Haffert), his first wife Rita, his brother Dr. Franklin Ott, his sister-in-law Claire Ott, his brother-in-law Rev. Msgr. Raymond Pollard and his nephew Jeffery Ott.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years Joan (nee: Pollard, Jennings), his loving son Kenneth, daughter-in-law Sally and his five adoring grandchildren Chris, Katie, Kenny, Alex and Peter. Also, his nephews Richard Ott MD., Paul Ott, David Ott and his niece Cindy Thesing.


Visitation will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, N.J. 07701 on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 2 –6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday May 2, 2017, 10AM at Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations may be sent in Richard’s memory to Seton Hall Preparatory School, 120 Northfield Ave, West Orange, NJ. 07052
